The European Film Market will be concluding on 19th February and ahead of its screening at EFM in Berlin, the Taiwanese horror The Tag-Along has been acquired by Ablaze Image. Ablaze Image’s films include The Last Women Standing, The Laundryman and Zinnia Flower. They have been responsible for bringing a host of young names to the screen including Eddie Peng and Mark Chao. Having formed only 3 years ago, the company is already making huge steps in helping to bring Taiwanese cinema in to the spotlight.
The Tag-Along is based on the urban legend about the girl in red and follows the strange disappearances and reappearances of a woman and her grandson. You can check out trailer below – it has English subtitles, hooray! – and a first-look image below. It looks suitably spooky and wonderfully atmospheric with plenty of demonic imagery to ramp up the frights. The mention of becoming “The Replacement” is rather ominous and there’s talks of spectres and demons, so it’s a full house of horror.
Directed by Cheng Wei-hao, The Tag-Along was released in Taiwan and Singapore in October 2015, hopefully we’ll be able to see it in America and the UK in the near future.
