A24 ORDER “TALK TO ME” SEQUEL FOLLOWING MOVIE’S UNEXPECTED SUCCESS

Posted on: August 18th, 2023

A24 continue their streak as one of horror’s hottest studios with the success of Talk to Me. The critically lauded supernatural tale has wracked up $30 million at the box-office, securing a A24 their second biggest opening to date with $10 million.

The studio is keen to capitalise on the success of their Sundance Film Festival acquisition, and have reportedly greenlit a sequel from the same team.

Talk to Me is the brain-child of Australian brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, better known as the YouTube duo RackaRacka. The pair have accumulated over 6 million subscribers with their darkly comic horror shorts and impressive effects work.

Recently the duo revealed that whilst making Talk to Me, they also filmed a prequel alongside the original. However, it is unknown if this is the next movie that A24 have greenlit from the pair. If so, looks like they won’t have a lot of work to put in, huh?

All we know for sure at present is that the brothers have been contracted to return and Danny will once again pen the script.

It is much too early to report a release date, but we will keep an eye out for any further updates. However, if Talk to Me continues to have legs at the box-office, we’ll likely be seeing more sooner rather than later.
