6 Best Horror Games for iPhone and iPad

Posted on: April 25th, 2024

Mobile gaming has played a big part in many people’s daily lives including ours. Had a long day at work? Pull up a puzzle game. Need a pick-me-up during your commute? Play a round of a running game. Getting bored of studying? Start one round of your favourite MOBA. But what if you crave a different kind of thrill? The one that will keep you shouting and your heart pumping. If you own an iPhone or an iPad, we completely understand that sometimes, the app store can be limiting. But don’t worry as we’ve done the hard work for you and looked for the best horror games for iPhone and iPad.

In this article, we will be sharing the top horror games we found for iPhone and iPad. Do note though that some of these games are played online so you need to have a reliable internet service provider and a stable internet connection to enjoy them. Since that’s out of the bag, let’s start!

If you like psychological-horror games, INSIDE is one of the best out there to try. Developed by Playdead, a.k.a the mastermind behind the thrilling game Limbo, you play this game as a nameless boy who’s trying to get inside a building with a sinister project. Throughout the game, you will need to play puzzles and survive. You might feel at constant unease while playing the game, especially if you’re not a fan of the dark, shadowy figures, and deadly traps.

2. Eyes Horror & Coop Multiplayer
Turns your phone into a haunted house for two. One player sees but can’t move (they’re blindfolded!), while the other explores the darkness relying on touch and sound. You have to work together to escape the creepy environments and communicate and strategise to avoid unseen terrors lurking in the shadows. It’s a simple set-up, but the lack of sight and spooky atmosphere make this a surprisingly scary co-op experience for you and a friend.

This is an online game, so you will need the best internet provider for you to enjoy this game. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with constant errors and lags while playing.

IMBO is a side-scrolling puzzle game with a dark twist. You play as a silent boy exploring a strange black and white world. It’s a simple concept, but the atmosphere is what makes it creepy. Similar to INSIDE, the game doesn’t tell you what to do, you have to figure out the puzzles yourself by exploring and avoiding traps. If you like puzzle games with a dark and mysterious vibe, LIMBO is worth checking out. But keep in mind that it can be very frustrating at times.

4. Five Nights at Freddy’s Series
If you’ve watched the new Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) last year (2023) and haven’t played at least one game of FNAF, you’re definitely missing out. If you’re now looking for a horror game to play, you can’t go wrong with this series. It’s basically all about surviving the night shift as a security guard at a creepy pizzeria filled with malfunctioning animatronic characters. The anticipation is what gives the game the thrill and if you’re going to survive or not. If you want to rewatch the movie to get an idea of it, you can do so by streaming TV and movies related to this title. Just so you know, there are both movies and series of FNAF.

5. Alien: Isolation
Alien: Isolation is a scary space station game where you play as Ripley’s daughter, Amanda. Unlike most games, you won’t find big guns here. Instead, you’ll need to use your wits to survive by hiding, scavenging for supplies, and outsmarting a dangerous alien creature constantly on the hunt. You’ll play this from a first-person objective, so it’s more thrilling because you don’t have the easy 360 degree view. You’ll only see what’s right in front of you.

Wrapping Up
These five are just some of the best horror games you can play on iPhone and iPad. More and more developers are creating mobile horror games, so it won’t be long for us to have more options in the future – some might even keep you up at night… (iykyk!) Have fun, and make sure to share these games with your friends and family!
