A handful of new cast members have been added to Nicolas Pesce’s (The Eyes of My Mother) reboot of The Grudge. They are Glow’s Betty Gilpin, The Mist’s William Sadler, Jacki Weaver (Stoker, Small Crimes) and Banshee’s Frankie Faison.
Originally released back in 2004, The Grudge was a remake of the original Japanese story Ju-on: The Grudge. The film was a reasonable interpretation with a few great scares, but it was nothing ground-breaking. There is certainly room for another version of the horror tale and Pesce is an exciting director to be attached to the project.
When speaking about his excitement for the new re-telling, Sam Raimi said:
“We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of American suburbia.”
The Grudge will be written by Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train) and additionally stars Lin Shaye, Andrea Riseborough, Demian Bichir and John Cho.
