I think many of you will agree that 2016 was a pretty shitty year. Mainly because politics has gone mad and a ton of famous faces have passed away suddenly. It’s been relentlessly dismal up until the very end, so it’s no surprise to see that the year 2016 has been given it’s own horror film-style trailer and it’s pretty great.
Friend Dog Studios has crafted a monstrous personification of 2016 and, of course, it wears a mask and torments a group of young folk. After realising that phones blowing up, England leaving the EU and the huge number of celebrity deaths probably equate to something larger, the friends are forced into a battle where only some will survive until 2017.
Check out the trailer below; it’s a brilliant little satire that pokes fun at the year and those who think it is cursed, using horror tropes in a playful and smart way. I’m not quite sure if I want to see what horrors 2017 can bring, but the only way is up. Right?
